Asymmetry…

Proverbs 3:8

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

…in the Horse and the Rider

Asymmetry or crookedness is the default habit in horses as well as riders without expert intervention.  For horses, it takes a trained eye and a rider with an educated degree of feel and correctly timed aids to improve this innate tendency toward developing incorrectly. For humans, our moral compass is ultimately untrustworthy without God. However, when we invite Him into our space and humble ourselves to allow His corrections inside of us, the most subtle of miracles occur!

Horses, alone, cannot hope to be completely straight and perform to their full potential.  Humans, alone, lack a broad perspective and can easily become entrenched in negative habits. Even the Olympic team trains regularly with their chef d’equipe.  Let this be a lesson to all of us to stay connected to someone we trust and respect as a source of knowledge and encouragement for progression.

Proverbs 27:17

    so one person sharpens another
